The Lady and the Cowboy
Their worlds were so far apart but their
hearts beat as one.

Thomas Ian Griffith is really making things happen on
Another World. In his 7 month stint on the show, he's developed a tremendous following. Fans continually write in praise of his tender portrayal of Southern charmer Catlin Ewing. They're rooting heavily for the blossoming romance between Catlin and Sally Frame. Together, Thomas and talented co-star Mary Page Keller have inspired the greatest interest AW's sparked in years. It looks like the lady and the cowboy are definitely on their way up, and that's exactly where Thomas Ian Griffith and Mary Page Keller plan on staying!

How do you feel about the attention you've been getting?
Thomas:
It's great. I always try and do my best, and it's nice to know the fans appreciate it.

How do you and Mary get along off the set?
Thomas:
Very well. She's a fine actress. Mary has a great straightforward quality about her. You can touch that and deal with it. I enjoy working with her.

Sally and Catlin's romance has progressed so slowly. Has that ever made your love scenes difficult?
Thomas:
A little. There have been scenes Mary and I have together where I'd just naturally reach out and put my hands on her shoulders. All of a sudden the director would yell cut and tell me not to touch her. I guess it's because Sally and Catlin are supposed to fall in love gradually and they don't want me to rush it. So I've found myself really having to hold back sometimes.

Is there anyone on the show that you wish you'd get to work with more?
Thomas:
Yes, Linda Dano. She's wonderful. I've gone home in the limo with her a few times. She's such an appealing woman. She radiates such warmth. I'd love it if Catlin could get involved with her on the show.

Is it hard for you to perfect Catlin's Southern drawl?
Thomas:
I have to work at having that subtle Texas accent. I find it comes out more in my scenes with Maisie, because she has the accent herself.

How do you like living in New York as opposed to your native Connecticut?
Thomas:
I love it here. I love the energy. I'm one of those people who has to be doing a lot of things at once.

Are you into the city night life?
Thomas:
I'm not real big socially. I've never been one for going out to parties. I do my own thing. I'm more for a one-on-one relationship. I prefer spending time with my girlfriend (model, Jacqueline Scott).

Do the two of you ever find enough time to be together, what with your careers?
Thomas:
It's hard, but the one good thing that's come out of it is that we really appreciate our time together now. We make the most of it.

How have things changed for you since you joined AW?
Thomas:
Well, I bought a TV, that's probably the best thing I've done. Oh, and I got a VCR too, so I can tape the show and see what I'm doing wrong. My life hasn't changed. I don't think it will. This is just a job to me. It's such a fallacy about being a star. I'll always be the same person, no matter what.
