Born in Korea in 1944, Jun Chong began his Tae Kwon Do training at the age of 6. His family moved to Washington state several years later, and as a young black belt he began training Hapkido with the legendary Master Sea Oh Choi.

At the age of 24, Master Chong opened his first martial arts school in Rosemead, and three years later in 1972 he opened the Mid-Wilshire school. In 1978 Black Belt Magazine voted Jun Chong "Instructor Of The Year". Master Chong holds an 9th degree black belt in Hapkido, and an 8th Dan in Tae Kwon Do, as well as a 7th degree in Goju-Ryu, and trains in Aikido, Kendo, Boxing, and is an expert in the use of numerous weapons.

Many starring movie roles including "Ninja Turf", "Street Soldiers", and "Silent Assassins" have gained Master Chong worldwide popularity. Some of the famous students of Master Chong include: Philiip Rhee, Simon Rhee, Sam Jones, David Alan Greir, Lorenzo Lamas, Thomas Ian Griffith, and Sugar Ray Leonard.




The Jun Chong's instruction system is now taught in over 100 Do Jangs around the world thanks to the instructional videos, seminars, as well the many Jun Chong black belts that have gone on to open studios of their own.
Master Chong is proud of his three schools as well his international reputation as an instructor. His wife Ada, and daughter Joanna are black belts and their youngest children Kathy and Yong are eagerly following in their footsteps.
