Jack's back. In 2040, a vicious serial killer stalks the

with the mysterious past; Falconetti, master hacker; and your own girlfriend
and fellow reporter Catherine, whose mother may have been the Ripper's first

Die Einleitung zum Spiel "The Ripper" hält was es verspricht. Nach einem
dramatischen Intro, geht's auch gleich richtig los. In der Rolle des
Reporters Jake Quinlan muß man nicht nur gegen den halsstarrigen
Detective Vince Magnotta, der sein Taschengeld durch Kopfgeld
aufbessert, ankämpfen. Nein auch die Neurochirurgin, die deine durch den
Ripper verletzte Assistentin betreuen soll, ist auch nicht gerade eine
große Hilfe. Außerdem hast du noch eine Menge Rätsel zu knacken. Und als
Verdächtiger kommst du auch noch in Frage, weil der Ripper meint, er
müsse durch dich Kontakt zur Aussenwelt aufnehmen. Also alles in allem
ein absolut spannender und kurzweiliger Thriller, den ich nur
weiterempfehlen kann.
Einziger Fehler an diesem Spiel ist das ständige CD-Wechseln, daß einem
auf Dauer auf die Nerven geht. Das Spiel zeigt sich in einem
interaktiven Video mit Spitzengrafik und absolut synchronen
Mundbewegungen (auch in der deutschen Fassung). Der Sound untermalt
optimal die düstere Stimmung des Spiels. Außerdem scheint mir noch
erwähnenswert, daß Blue Öyster Cult mit "Reaper" das Intro begleitet.
Ein weiteres Plus ist die Starbesetzung des Vince Magnotta durch
Christopher Walken (God's Army), der hier den gewohnten Griesgram
'raushängen lässt.

Soundtrack: blue oyster cult"(Don't Fear) The Reaper"
Privateer 2: The Darkening is an excellent sequel to Origin's
classic Wing Commander: Privateer, although Origin made the
unfortunate decision to sacrifice gameplay depth in favor of slick
full-motion video sequences a laWing Commander III. Which is
not to say the The Darkening is a bad game. Far from it: it is fun,
it has the best flight engine thus far in a Wing Commander game
(until later releases like Prophecy anyway), it boasts excellent
production value including an impressive cast (including Christopher Walken
and John Hurt), it has an intriguing 'space opera' plot, and it offers
dozens of challenging and lengthy missions.
True Crime: Streets of LA is the deepest
combination of driving, fighting and shooting ever burned into one game.
Take the role of rogue E.O.D. operative Nick Kang, assigned to the task
of taking out the merciless Russian and Chinese crime syndicates
plaguing the City of Angels. The action is non-stop and you can never
repeat the same mission twice as you play through a branching storyline
that takes place across 250 square miles of accurately recreated Los

City as a police officer tracking down criminals and administering justice.
The game features a diverse weapon set, as well as a mixed offering of
fighting styles that you can use to take out those who stand in your way. In
addition to combat on foot, the game features driving sequences and
shootouts. Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Walken, and Mickey Rourke
contribute their voice talent to the game as well.
